Hypnosis and Healing. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, hypnosis is a trancelike state that resembles sleep, however it is induced by a person whose suggestions are readily accepted by the subject. Also, within the dictionary, a suggestion is the process by which a physical or mental state is influenced by a thought or idea. Furthermore, a suggestion is the process by which one thought leads to another thought, particularly through association of ideas. The Mayo Clinic mentions that hypnosis is usually done with the assistance of a therapist using verbal repetition, as well as mental images.
There is a lot of information on the Internet about hypnosis. I have seen websites and youtube videos claiming that hypnosis will help individuals with addictions, PTSD, and other health issues. I disagree. Hypnosis never helped me with beating my eating disorder or healing from narcissistic abuse.
Furthermore, PTSD is a very complex health condition. An individual who has PTSD, may also have a concussion. Dr. Thompson and I discussed PTSD and concussions on my radio show here. I feel hypnosis cannot help individuals who have PTSD and concussions. PTSD requires a powerful healing art to be implemented into a person’s life, such as brainwave entrainment. Meditation cannot assist people in overcoming PTSD because there is so much involved with this health condition.
Let me share with you my story. Years ago, I had an eating disorder. It lasted nine years. I tried many avenues to get rid of my addiction. I saw a world-renowned hypnotist out of state. The session cost about $5,000 for one hour. When my session was finished and I arrived home, my eating disorder continued. Hypnosis never stopped my eating disorder. Also, I did not experience any improvements with hypnosis. Additionally, I repeated positive affirmations on a regular basis, however these did not benefit me either. I saw another hypnotist later on in life. The session did not provide me with any healing from narcissistic abuse.
Hypnosis and Healing. I am not a Fan.
The reason hypnosis is not effective is because it focuses on thought, form, the ego, and the mind. This is not our true self. Our true self is the soul, consciousness, and awareness, therefore I only recommend meditation, as well as brainwave entrainment. Both will let go of the mind. Through meditation and brainwave entrainment, you align with your soul. They both let go of limiting beliefs and emotional trauma stored in the unconscious mind. Brainwave entrainment balances brainwaves, the nervous system, and chakras. Meditation and brainwave entrainment will:
- Move limiting beliefs and emotional trauma out of the unconscious mind.
- Bring limiting beliefs and emotional trauma up to conscious awareness, so that they can be eliminated.
You can learn about brainwave entrainment below. I interviewed Dr. Jeffrey Thompson on my radio show. He has been involved with this healing art for decades:
Roy Masters
Roy Masters was a Hypnotist. He is the host of a talk radio counseling show titled “Advice Line” and it broadcasts on 190 radio stations. Mr. Masters started his radio show in 1961 and it has been on the air continuously since it started. He is the founder of a non-profit organization. It is the Foundation of Human Understanding. Roy Masters is also the author of many books. Furthermore, he is the author and creator of a type of mindfulness meditation exercise.
He realized that hypnosis was not the answer because people were already in a hypnotic state. His teachings include meditation, which bring a person out of a hypnotic state. Watch the video below of Mr. Masters being interviewed years ago about hypnosis and healing:
“Hypnosis is behind 95% of all your mental, emotional and spiritual problems. The hypnotic state is the root cause of every kind of suffering.” Roy Masters
I interviewed Roy Masters on my radio show in the past about meditation. I also talked about letting go of my eating disorder through meditation. You can listen to the interview below:
Hypnosis and Healing Versus Meditation
Additionally, listen to Jaggi Vasudev talk about Hypnosis versus Meditation below. His name publicly is Sadhguru and he is located in India He has participated in events with world-renowned physician Dr. Deepak Chopra. Sadhguru mentions that hypnosis moves into certain states of unawareness, which the individual is propelled by a certain thought or instruction. Life gets unbalanced.
He states that meditation is awareness and there is no suggestion. You are not trying to get anywhere with meditation. It is the opposite of hypnosis. Meditation and hypnosis are two different dimensions of life. There is nothing spiritual about hypnosis. It is a mental exercise and a psychological condition. Sadhguru also states that spiritual transcends the physical. Meditation takes you beyond your physical limitations. Hypnosis cannot go beyond physical because it is a psychological situation. Power of Now, Meditation, and Brainwave Entrainment
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle is one of my favorite spiritual books. I was able to beat my eating disorder through meditation and reading this book. Meditating on a daily basis is important for everyone. It is non-denominational and has many benefits, including a calm mind. Meditation will eliminate limiting beliefs held in the unconscious mind and addictions, however it is not powerful enough for people who have PTSD.
For individuals with PTSD, brainwave entrainment is absolutely essential. I recommend brainwave entrainment for most people, however there can be exceptions. During my consultations, I advise on what sound is best to listen to based on your specific health concerns, how long your sessions need to be, and other suggestions. My brainwave entrainment and meditation recommendations are individualized just for you.
Summary
Our true self is soul, consciousness, and awareness. We are not our minds. For all of the health and wellness services I offer, awareness recommendations are always included, so that individuals can align with their souls, as well as let go of limiting beliefs and emotional trauma that they may be holding on to. I never suggest any healing arts to a person that include mental exercises, thoughts, affirmations, and anything involving the mind. I offer hair mineral analysis and other services (Quantum Biofeedback, NES Health), which you can find at the top of my website.
